The Northern Lebanon Transportation department coordinates the bus routes and bus stops for all students who are residents of the Northern Lebanon School District. This includes daily transportation to and from school, after school activity routes, and bus service for extracurricular activity trips. The department maintains licenses and records for all of the bus and van drivers in our District, and we provide them with training and inservice programs. We assist the business department by supplying data for the completion of required state reports and cost calculations related to our transportation service.
During the 2016-2017 school year, we operated buses and vans on 55 daily routes, providing daily student service to 37 public, non-public and special needs schools attended by Northern Lebanon students. During that same school year, our buses and vans traveled just over 1 million miles while transporting more than 4,500 students and making in excess of 1,500 bus stops each day. During that same school year, our department processed approximately 1,650 requested changes to bus routes.
In addition to the regular daily school student transportation, during 2016-2017 we provided service to 385 extracurricular activities, such as sports and field trips, encompassing more than 22,000 additional miles.
The transportation department is a part of the Northern Lebanon Special Services department headed by Mr. Ed Skoczen. The transportation department is managed by Mr. Matt Zeller. He is assisted in the office by Mrs. Sandra Boltz. Mrs. Wendy Reardon is the transportation secretary.
If you would like to request a change to your student’s bus stop, please contact the transportation office by calling any of the District school telephone numbers and choosing option 1. You may also call us directly at 717-865-2117 ext. 2529. Most bus stop changes require at least 48 hours to process. Additional time may be needed if a bus or van needs to be rerouted due to the requested change. The process may take longer than usual during the busy weeks leading up to the first day of school.
If you need to report an address change, please call the school building which your student attends. The transportation department cannot accept permanent address changes. A staff member at each building will take the address change information, which will be forwarded to our department to make the necessary bus stop changes. Proof of residency is required for all address changes.
