Bonnie Bicksler graduated from NL in 1970. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from East Stroudsburg State College in 1974 and a Master of Science degree from Wilkes University in 1998. Bicksler’s legendary status grew at NL over her 35-year career in the Health and PE departments and as the in-school suspension teacher. She has worn many hats at NL, taking on the role of student, teacher, administrator, coach, and school board member. One of Bicksler’s claims to fame is that she was “lucky enough” to coach an Olympian, Amy Tran Swensen, in field hockey. She also coached softball, basketball, and track.
Bicksler currently resides in Jonestown, PA. She has three brothers and one sister. Her niece, Lindsey, and two nephews, Brett and Brian, are the “apples of her eye.” In her free time, Bicksler enjoys golfing, collecting Coca Cola memorabilia, and mowing the grass. Reflecting on her time at NL, Bicksler says, “I had a wonderful education at NL with teachers like Mr. Tom Donmoyer, Mr. Saile, and Doc Bender. They inspired me to be a teacher and to love the field of education.” The following is Bicksler’s advice for current NL students: Don't take your education for granted! Be kind, respectful, and always be positive.
