Hope Snyder

Hope Snyder graduated from NL in 2014. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Audiology and Speech Pathology from Bloomsburg University of PA in 2018 (graduating summa cum laude), and in 2020 she completed a Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology from Syracuse University. During her studies, Snyder took advantage of two opportunities to study abroad. The first time was in London, England; the second time was in Central/Eastern Europe and included the following countries, Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Snyder is proud of the hard work that she dedicated to being successful in school. As an undergraduate student, she was very involved in clubs and organizations and held three on-campus jobs, in addition to working part time at Chocolate World on weekends and during breaks. She completed her graduate program with a 3.9 GPA while balancing academic coursework and clinical experience all 5 semesters of the program. In the future, she looks forward to pursuing a doctoral degree. Snyder is employed by the Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit (IU13) as a preschool speech language pathologist. She works with children ages 3-5 on a variety of skills including improving articulation, increasing vocabulary, improving understanding of language, increasing length of utterances, improving fluency, and giving nonverbal children alternate ways to communicate. She loves her work and enjoys creating both hands-on and digital activities for her students. Snyder is also a recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award (the Girl Scout equivalent of Eagle Scout).
Snyder currently resides in Jonestown, PA. She recently got engaged and is planning a 2022 wedding; she looks forward to seeing “where we plant our roots.” In her free time, Snyder enjoys traveling, camping, trying new foods, cooking and baking, and hiking/biking. Snyder appreciates many things about her time at NL and holds many fond memories. “While at NL, I was in band and had the chance to participate in various honors bands as well as go on two trips to Disney World. My senior year the marching band captured the marching band championships in our division. NL also helped me gain leadership skills, as I was involved in student council, musicals, plays, soccer, track, and field hockey. I was part of the Dedicated Dozen of the field hockey team. My senior year there were only 12 field hockey players, enough for a varsity team. I even recruited a male to play goalie for our team. We were able to keep field hockey alive and well at NL. I appreciated the support I received from my teachers and coaches. They helped to build the foundation of my work ethic and time management skills which have been a huge factor in the path my life has taken.” The following is Snyder’s advice for current NL students: Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try. Don't let negative thoughts prohibit you from pursuing your dreams. You never know what you can accomplish until you try!
