Elementary Administration

Mr. Lee Umberger

Elementary Principal 

Mr. Lee Umberger joined the Viking team in November 2021 with 30 years of experience in public education. His  career pathway started with at the ELCO School district followed by 9 years in the classroom in the Governor Mifflin School District.  Mr. Umberger jumped into administration. After 16 years as the Principal of the Governor Mifflin Intermediate School, Lee joined the Northern Lebanon School District to serve the community in which he resides!

Mr. Umberger is a graduate of Lebanon Valley College and West Chester University with an Administrator’s Certificate from Alvernia University.  Lee resides in Jonestown with his wife, Cheryl and their sons, Eric and Hayden.  

Lee's goal is to provide the best education to ALL students in a welcoming, healthy, and safe environment everyday, noting that "My door is always open and I welcome your feedback."

Mr. Charles Herling

Elementary Assistant Principal, 

In November 2021, Charlie Herling joined the Northern Lebanon School District as the Assistant Principal of Jonestown and Fredericksburg Elementary Schools. Prior to Northern Lebanon, Charlie served as an 3rd grade teacher in the Lebanon School District for 19 years. Charlie has his undergraduate degree from Lock Haven University and his Master’s Degree from the University of Scranton.

In their free time, Charlie and his wife Ashley stay on the move with their two children, Christian and Anna.  They love spending time at the beach, going to the family cabin, and being outside with their two dogs.

Mr. Justin Bruce

Elementary Assistant Principal

In July 2021, Justin joined the Northern Lebanon staff as the K-12 V3 Coordinator after 15 of elementary classroom teaching experience at neighboring Lower Dauphin School District. In 2023, Justin joined the elementary administrative team shortly after the new Northern Lebanon Elementary School opened its doors. Justin has his undergraduate degree in teaching from Millersville University and obtained his math coaching certificate, Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction, and then later his Principal Certification through Penn State University.

Visitors to NLES might see Mr. Bruce walking around with a giant dog, an Irish Wolfhound named Odin who is an official therapy dog and pet to the Bruce family. At home, Justin and his wife, Lauren share two sons, Isaac and Ryan who are constantly on the go. Justin is a huge Philadelphia sports fan, so feel free to ask Mr. Bruce his opinion on the Phillies, Flyers, Eagles, or Sixers!

Mrs. Tiffany Hogg

Assistant Principal (K-12)

Tiffany joined Northern Lebanon School District in 2015 as an elementary teacher where she taught first, second, and third grade, and served as a math intervention specialist.  Prior to becoming an Assistant Principal, she held the position of Dean of Students within the district.

Tiffany holds an undergraduate degree in teaching from Millersville University, a Master of Science in Education with a major in Instruction Media and STEM Endorsement.  Additionally, she recently obtained her Principal Certification from Wilkes University.

Mrs. Hogg and her husband Matt reside in Palmyra with their exceptionally large Saint Bernard dog, Tucker.  They have a daughter Kayleigh who recently graduated from the University of Maine and is about to embark on the journey of Law School.  Their family enjoys adventurous ski vacations, relaxing on the beach, and cheering on the favorite sports teams.

Tiffany is excited to join the administrative team at NL and is dedicated to cultivating collaborative relationships with both families, students, and staff.
